The Women March in Washington DC- Jun, 4th 2012

The women of Pottal-Fii-Bhantal Fouta-Djallon in collaboration with multiple grassroots organizations from Guinea will be organizing a March in Washington DC on June 4th 2012 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

The object of the march is to call on international development agencies, the US government and public opinion to exert more pressure on the Guinean government for concrete actions for justice in Guinea. Since the September 28th, 2009 massacres, despite promises of the Guinean Government and pressures from the International Community, nothing has been done to bring to justice the perpetrators of rapes and murders. Not only are the criminals free, but they still hold high government positions and enjoy open support from the government while their victims are neglected and suffering in silence.

The March is an opportunity to show solidarity with women who are becoming the prime targets of dirty wars around the world. The organizers of the March will submit a memorandum spelling concrete measures to be taken for justice in Guinea as a mean of averting looming massacres and genocide that will have far reaching consequences for the whole West Africa region.

The itinerary of the march will be from Lafayette square to the State department via the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund headquarters.

A participation of your organization in this demonstration will enhance our common cause and will be greatly appreciated.
